Dave Jensen
Dave was born in Madison County hospital in Rexburg Idaho. Before ever going to school, his family moved to Seattle (Shoreline) Washington. He started out going to Syre and then to Echo Lake Elementary School. After the obligatory 2 year stint in Einstein Middle School he finished up at Shorewood High School.
In the photo section of this site, you can find several photos of Dave when he was younger. As a consequence of shaving his head in the late 90s, these photos create some of the few opportunities for our kids to see what he looked like with hair. Natalie (our oldest) never fails to mention that her papa should grow back his hair as he looked "more hansomer" then. Go Figure. Its a shame that it is no longer an option.
In high school Dave was your average village idiot. He just started to find his place in the school when he was forced out due to graduation. After giving serious thought to going to the Barnum and Bailey Clown College, he opted instead to serve a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This proved to be a wonderful opportunity as he focus his life on helping others in the Kobe/Osaka area of Japan. Many life lessons were learned that he will carry with him throughout the rest of his life. Many of Dave's fondest memories of that segment of his life centered around entertaining the children. There is a video of one such occasion posted in the video section of this site.
After returning back to America he followed his family to Utah as his father was transferred there by his employer. He (I dont know why I keep referring to myself as "he") ended up going to Utah Valley State College until he got his associates. This turned out to be a good thing as he met the most beautiful and amazing woman. He ended up marrying her roommate. (Now this is the part that I make it clear to the world that I am only kidding.)
Rachel and Dave started down their road to romance by becoming jogging buddies. Every day they would head out jogging and end up walking back the same distance holding hands. Dave, understanding that he was way out of his league with Rachel, took advantage of her temporary lapse of judgment and moved the relationship as far and as fast as he could. While the relationship grew very smoothly, it was not without its awkward moments. One such example was when Dave first got up the nerve to tell his new found significant other that he loved her. Immediately after he professes his love for her she replies that he has nice teeth. That's right... she said he had nice teeth. To this day, Dave is still confused how one comment solicited the other.
Because Dave had served a two year mission, he finished his associates degree at the same time as Rachel finished her bachelors. After that, Dave and Rachel moved up to Salt Lake City (West Jordan), where Dave finished out his degree at the University of Utah. While he had originally entered into college thinking that he would want to be a high school math teacher, he ultimately ended up with a B.A in Finance. Both degrees dealt with numbers, the latter however came with higher pay. As shameful as it is, that was the deciding factor.
After graduating from the University of Utah Dave started his career as a financial planner. As of this writing, it has been 7 years and he has not looked back. Dave enjoys his work. Education is important to him, so he spends a lot of time studying to make him a better planner.
Dave and Rachel have 3 children. Emily was their first even though they did not have the chance to raise her here on earth. She has already returned to her heavenly father.
Natalie came a few years later. She is both incredibly smart and obedient. Her obedience irritates Dave's parents to certain degree. Not because they don't find it a virtue, but rather because they had hoped to see Dave struggle with children that were more like himself when he was a child.
Cooper was born March of 2006. Again, as of this writing, Dave's parents have not gotten their desires of watching David raise a little monster. Cooper has been an absolute blast. It is amazing to watch him mimic everything that his sister does.
As a family the Jensen's enjoy camping. Living in Utah, there are plenty of opportunities to head to the mountains. In the photo section of this site you will find many pictures of us out in the camping trailer.
